About me

There’s just something about dining: it might be the appreciation of the craft required and the care taken in producing a meal, or that food evokes memories while delighting our senses, or even from satisfying the basic human needs of nutrition and social interaction! Whichever it is (or a combination of them all), eating out is something I have a real passion for.

-currently living in London-

When I first moved to London, I spent loads of time attempting to find the best places to eat at. After trawling through multiple sites such as Tripadvisor, Timeout, food blogs etc (it became a bit of an obsession really), I began drawing up my own list of must-visits. But then, I came to realise what I really wanted was a site where people shared just their favourite meal experiences, especially ones whom I could trust. That was when the idea for this platform was born- if I couldn’t find one, I’ll start one.

About the site

The main idea: sharing 3 favourite places I’ve eaten at, every month. (that’s where the three in tastythreets comes from ^^ )

  • Inspired by a group of French chefs attempting to counteract bad online reviews, the 3 places I post about are the ones I liked the most that month. So, rather than talk about places where I feel you should not visit (yea, I know negative reviews are fun to read), I really want to focus on those that are worth going to
  • Each post singles out 1 dish which I think encapsulates what the place is all about
  • No numerical rating (It’s just something I feel is rather arbitrary- picking my favourite places does the job)
  • Number of times visited shown (Consistency is really key in the food industry; many negative reviews/ratings you can find are usually based on one-off visits, which can be unfair. While a vast majority of the places I post about involve first time visits, I think it’s important to show this number in order to prove their consistency whenever possible)

Trust in me having similar tastes and preferences is quite important, and so I hope that as you read on about my thoughts, you’ll be able to identify areas that resonate with you.

The future

I’m hoping that this will evolve into something bigger: a crowd sourced site that builds a community based on this idea; a place where you will be able to find trusted recommendations based on the favourite places of others, those who have similar preferences to yours. This can extend to people listing their favourite places for cuisines/food types e.g. your favourite 3 places for ramen.
